Desert Ironwood is one of the world's densest and most stable woods. It is so dense that it won't float in water, and it is so hard that it has been used for bearings. Its hardness and color variety mean it yields an extremely attractive appearance and beautiful finish. Its color range is deep, chocolate-brown (almost black) mottled with yellowish-red. It has a fine, even texture and an excellent, natural luster.
